PREP ROUNDUP: Huron, Norwalk stay unbeaten in division play

HURON — After being shut out in consecutive games late last week, the Huron baseball team scored double-digit runs for the second straight game Wednesday, topping Willard 12-1 in Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division action. The win raised Huron's record to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the SBC Bay. Sam Cox (double, two runs scored), Landon Hohler (double, two runs, two runs batted in) and Ben Davis (four RBI) each tallied two hits for the Tigers (6-3, 2-0 SBC Bay). Caden Peterman scored twice for Huron and Braxton Barrett doubled and had two RBI. Dom Fresch picked up the win on the mound. He went the first four innings, allowing just two hits while striking out five. Dominic Muratori pitched the final inning for the Tigers. Noah Helton led off the seventh with a single before Kaedyn Warner put down a sacrifice bunt to advance Helton. Isaiah Wells then singled to left and the ball was misplayed, allowing Helton to score the go-ahead run. Wesley Shupe needed 16 pitches (11 strikes) to retire the side in the bottom of the seventh for the save. Helton went the first six innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits. The Truckers improved to 6-2 overall and are 3-0 in the league entering a big game Thursday at Perkins (7-2, 2-1). Columbian ace Isaiah Tilse struck out seven. Margaretta starting pitcher Mason Kromer struck out six and allowed only two hits in six innings. Kromer also doubled for one of the Polar Bears' four hits. It was the second game of Margaretta's spring break trip to West Virginia. The Bears lost 13-1 to Oak Hill on Tuesday. Margaretta is off Thursday before playing Woodrow Wilson again Friday.
