PREP ROUNDUP: Sandusky baseball upsets state-ranked Edison

MILAN TWP. — Sandusky baseball coach Zack Moots got an early birthday present as the Blue Streaks took a 2-0 lead into the seventh inning before scoring three times in the seventh to knock off Div. V No. 2 Edison 5-1 in non-league action Monday. Moots' birthday is Tuesday, but his team is now the first team to beat Edison this season. The Blue Streaks (7-4) got two hits apiece from Dillon Crawford and Keelan Lockhart. Dennarius Walk picked up the win for Sandusky, allowing one earned run in a complete game effort. He struck out five. Edison (8-1) tallied just three hits as Bryson Wittmer, Chaz Smith and Tristian Wetherill each singled for the Chargers. Paul Maloney (double, three runs batted in, two runs scored), Landon Hohler and Dom Fresch (two runs) recorded two hits apiece forhte Tigers. Ben Davis scored three runs while Dominic Muratori and Caden Peterman each scored twice. Hohler went four innings for the win, allowing no runs on two hits. He struck out eight. Gavin Thurston recorded the final two outs and allowed one hit. Thurston also had two hits and drove in three runs at the plate for St. Paul. Ben Blum hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth, while Landon Fries tallied two singles, a double, and scored three times. Avery Rosser had two doubles among her three hits to go with three runs batted in and two runs scored for the Eagles. Madi Reiber added two hits, three RBI and three runs scored while Veanna Helmstetter also had two hits, three RBI and scored twice.
