Peeling back Sandusky's Easter egg event details

SANDUSKY — This past week, Sandusky officials announced when its yearly Easter egg hunt will happen for 2025. It'll take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 12 at Washington Park, 200 Washington St., Sandusky. "The eggs go quickly, so make sure you are there right at 10 a.m.," according to a city statement. "The egg hunt will start at the Washington Park gazebo." Officials thanked several community partners — including Sandusky Schools, the Rotary Club of Sandusky, and VacationLand Federal Credit Union — "for helping us put on this event." Want to go? Saturday, April 5 Norwalk • Where: Baines Park, 440 Austin Shadle Drive, Norwalk • When: Time to be announced • More: The event is hosted by the Norwalk Lions Club. Vermilion • Where: American Legion Post 397, 2713 State Road, Vermilion • When: Noon to 2 p.m. • Who: It's for children up to 12. • More: Contact the legion for more information. Saturday, April 12 Berlin Heights • Where: Behind Edison Middle School, 20 Center St., Berlin Heights • When: 10 a.m. • Who: It's open for children. • More: If it rains, the event will be rescheduled for the same time and location on Saturday, April 19 Huron • Where Huron Boat Basin, 330 Main St, Huron • When: 1 p.m. • Who: It's open for kids between 2 and 8. Canned food donations will be accepted for the local food pantry • More: On the same day, the Huron Lions Club Pancake Breakfast will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at the First Presbyterian Church, 225 Williams St., in Huron with a special Michael Mage magic show taking place at 10 a.m. Breakfast is free, and cash donations for the Lions Club will be accepted. The Easter bunny will make an appearance at the egg hunt. Lakeside-Marblehead • Where: Bettinger Park in Lakeside Chautauqua, 236 Walnut Ave, Lakeside • When: 2-3 p.m. • Who: Two age groups — children 7 and younger along with kids eight and older — are invited to search for colorful eggs and discover sweet treats, win special prizes and enjoy more offerings. • More: Bring a basket to collect eggs. Marblehead • Where: James Park, 306 James St., Marblehead • When: Noon • Who: Everyone is welcome, and the Easter bunny will make an appearance. Oak Harbor • Where: Adolphus Kraemer Park's log cabin, 125 N. Church St., Oak Harbor • When: Noon to 2 p.m. • Who: The event is open to the public and intended for children 12 and younger. • More: The event is sponsored by the Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce. Perkins Township • Where: Perkins High School's football stadium, 3714 Campbell St., Sandusky • When/Who: 1-2 p.m. Organizers staggered the times for when certain age groups can participate and find one of approximately 5,000 eggs scattered around the field: — 1 p.m. for children 2 and under — 1:15 p.m. for children ages 3 and 4 — 1:30 p.m. for those in kindergarten and first grade — 1:45 p.m. for those in second and third grades — 2 p.m. for those in fourth and fifth grades Officials did offer some notes to those bringing children as explained in a statement: — Participants can enter the stadium 10 minutes before the start time of a particular age grouping. — "If you have multiple children in different age groups, we ask that each child only participate in one collection event." — "Please bring a basket or bag to collect eggs." More: There's no cost to attend, however, those showing up are asked to bring a canned good as a donation to the local Salvation Army. People can contact the township government for more information. Easter bunny will appear from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, April 19 Bellevue • Where: Central Park, 215 North St., Bellevue • When: 1 p.m. • Who: The event is open to children. • More: The Easter Bunny will stop by for photos. Berlin Heights • Where: Quarry Hill Winery, 8403 Mason Road, Berlin Heights • When: Check-in begins at 1 p.m. The hunt starts at 1:30 p.m. It's advised people arrive no later than 1:15 p.m. • Who: For children 10 and younger, there is an ultimate egg hunt with 500 hidden eggs and a golden egg. Tickets are limited. There will also be egg hunts for older children and adults at a cost. • More: Dress to expect any weather. Bunny ears, festive Easter gear and bright colors are encouraged. People can contact the winery for more information. Catawba Island • Where: Twin Oast Brewery, 3630 N.E. Catawba Road, Catawba • When/Who: Kids can partake in two different hunts — From 12:30-1:30 p.m. for children between 2 and 6 — From 2-3 p.m. for children between 7 and 12 Kids will hunt for candy-filled eggs in a safe, designated area. Wristbands provided at check-in with RSVP confirmation. • More: Parents and/or guardians need to RSVP ahead of time and can do so by calling 419-573-6126. All hunts begin at the top of the hill adjacent to the taproom entrance. Arrive at least 15 minutes prior for check-in and wristband pickup. There's also an adult egg hunt for a cost. Elmore • Where: Schedel Arboretum & Gardens, 19255 W. Portage River South Road, Elmore • When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; The Easter egg hunts take place at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. • Who: Separate egg-hunting areas will be designated for three different age groups between 1 and 12. • More: People are encouraged to bring a canned good to support the Elmore Food Bank. People can contact the arboretum for more information. Fremont • Where: Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums, Spiegel Grove, Fremont • When: Noon to 2 p.m. • Who: The event is geared toward kids between the ages of 3 and 10, but kids of all ages are welcome. • More: Kids are asked to bring three hard-boiled, colored eggs to use in the traditional egg games, which will take place on the Hayes Home lawn. These are the same games played at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. Kids can also bring a pre-decorated egg to enter in the decorated egg contest. The event features an egg roll, scavenger hunt, story reading, crafts and corn hole toss. The Easter Bunny will also make an appearance. People can contact the museum for more information.
