PREP ROUNDUP: Emerson delivers walk-off win for PC

PORT CLINTON — Port Clinton's Olivia Emerson singled in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Jae Mazur to clinch a 12-11 walk-off softball win over Bellevue on Thursday. Mazur led off with a walk and advanced to second on Ashton Sanchez's single. Emerson went 4 for 5 and drove in four runs and scored a pair. Gabby Howard went 4 for 4 with three RBI for the Redskins, who scored seven runs in the fourth inning. Mazur had two hits and scored three runs and Karly Hibner also had two hits. Sanchez got the pitching win, striking out 11, scattering five hits and walking none. Sanchez surpassed 500 career strikeouts in 52 starts. Ryleigh Knutti had two hits and scored three runs for Bellevue, which scored five in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 11-11. All of Bellevue's runs were unearned. Amari Prentice went 2 for 3 with a run and RBI to lead the Blue Streak offense, which benefited from 10 walks. Savannah Palmer's two-out RBI single scored Izabell Sartor in the top of the fifth with what proved to be the winning run. Kaylee Summers got the pitching win, scattering nine hits, walking none and getting 20 outs from her defense. Danbury's Miranda Evans was 3 for 3 with two doubles and two runs scored. Evans scored the Lakers' last run in the bottom of the since before Danbury (2-1) was retired in order in the seventh. Sandusky plays a doubleheader at Huron on Saturday. Aubrey Ransom singled and doubled for the Pirates, who dropped to 1-2. Maumee's Reign Hurt tripled, homered and drove in three runs in the Panthers' opener. For Norwalk, Audryn Ott and Mya Prochnow each singled to start the game. Ott then scored on an RBI single by Maddie Gamble in the top of the first inning. Prochnow then hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 2-2. Kenadee Lesch went seven innings for a no-decision. She allowed two earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts and six walks. Saige Viock allowed one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts and one walk in two innings of relief.
