Pizza truck finds permanent home

SANDUSKY — Like cheese and pepperoni, a partnership between two businesses comes together so seamlessly to deliver great tastes for diners. Archie's Pizza, a business owned by spouses Jeremey and Mallie Adams, recently opened a restaurant at 120 Wayne St. in downtown Sandusky. It's also located within and accessible from Clubhouse No.3 SportSocial, 220 E. Water St. Before unveiling the sit-down eatery, which debuted earlier this year, the Bellevue spouses operated Archie's Pizza Truck. Still in operation, the mobile business sets up shop in various places around north-central Ohio, including for public events on Jackson Street Pier in downtown Sandusky. Though the brick-and-mortar, sit-down restaurant gives them more options and possibilities than one of their St. Louis-style pizzas packed with toppings. "We just wanted to expand our brand," Jeremey said. "We have a bigger oven. We can offer more toppings and different types of pizzas. We have a dining room now, so we can do parties." But something important remains the same. "With everything new here, what we didn't change was our recipes," Jeremey said. "They have worked so well for us in our truck." Hanging in the Clubhouse Brothers Ryan and Maxx Tamburrino, partners of Tambo Entertainment, which owns and operates Clubhouse, both consider themselves huge fans of Archie's Pizza. They worked with Jeremey and Mallie to offer an in-house dining option for those attending Clubhouse, dubbed as a "sports-forward, activity-based gathering place where friends and family can spend time playing their favorite sports using simulators with the latest technology and physically interactive games," Ryan said. Clubhouse also features a full-service cocktail bar with many craft beers on tap. Ryan gave some insight into how Archie's found a home in Clubhouse: • "We were made aware of Archie's Food Truck while we were in search of local food truck options to partner with to provide a food option to our customers on our event days and busy weekends." • "From the first day they pulled up to Clubhouse, we immediately noticed the exceptional customer experiences that they gave on each pizza that came out of the truck." • "People absolutely love the duo of Jeremey and Mallie, and every time we invited them to downtown, the crowd was just in love with the product." • "All those things mesh 100% with that of how Clubhouse No.3 operates with our customers, and we knew that if we introduced a food option to our customers, that it would need an awesome product behind it." • "We are so happy with the collaboration we have created with the two teams, and we are excited for Sandusky to have a different experience when stepping into Archie's." Ryan noted how, "It was perfect timing with the three-year anniversary approaching for Clubhouse coming up on April 15, and our all-new basement to showcase the all-new grand opening of Archie's and how Clubhouse is always looking for ways to add new pieces to the puzzle." Jeremey and Mallie both appreciate the hospitality shown by the brothers. "We're thankful, and we are so excited," Jeremey said. What's in the sauce? For Jeremey and Mallie, Archie's Pizza combines their supreme love for St. Louis and its style of slices. In their new restaurant, jerseys of the city's professional sports teams hang up on the walls. Among the squads represented: the Cardinals of Major League Baseball, the Blues of the National Hockey League and Sanduksy's own Orlando Pace for when the Rams played in St. Louis. Plus the business name pays homage to this Missouri city. Archie's is a nod to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, which, at 630 feet tall, represents the world's tallest arch. And, of course, the biggest homage comes back to pizza. "It's thin crust with a semi-sweet sauce and a blend of cheese known as provel," Jeremey said. Added Mallie: "The cheese is very creamy and smokey, so it's very unique in flavor." In the Sandusky region, which boasts so many pizza places, what makes Archie's stand out from the rest? "The St. Louis style is not available anywhere around here. It's completely different, and we wanted to recreate it for people here," said Jeremey, explaining how the business makes its own sauce and creates a one-of-a-kind sausage recipe. The new restaurant allows Archie's to do more specials to complement its normal menu offerings. For instance, Archie's offers a pizza of the month now: March featured a Reuben theme for St. Patrick's Day. April, meanwhile, will showcase a pie dedicated to crab rangoons. "Just expect a different type of pizza," Jeremey said. "I feel like our specialties are where we will shine as opposed to just a standard cheese or pepperoni pizza." Both Jeremey and Mallie welcome people to attend a grand opening for Archie's, slated for April 12. People can find more information on facebook.com/archiespizzatruck.
