PREP ROUNDUP: Taylor, Cloud lead Chargers past Sailors

VERMILION — Edison scored 16 runs in the second inning and defeated Vermilion 24-1 in three innings in a Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division softball game Wednesday. Peyton Taylor went 3 for 4 and scored four runs and drove in three to lead the Chargers' offense, which totaled 14 hits. Abby Cloud, who struck out five in two scoreless innings in the circle, had a single and drove in four runs. Natalie Desautels, Ivy Kluding and Delaney Fields each added two hits and Desautels scored four runs. The Chargers (1-1) host Crestview on Thursday. Vermilion visits Elyria on Saturday. Sam Laffay went 3 for 4 with four runs batted in and scored three runs to lead the Tigers. Laffay doubled and had two singles. Reece Hotz went 2 for 3 with a triple, two runs and three RBI and Kaylee Albrycht was 2 for 4 and scored two runs and drove in one. Madison Holeman scattered four hits to get the pitching win. Clyde made it 4-2 on Adriana Barnes-Ortmann's RBI single in the top of the sixth, but went down 1-2-3 in the seventh. Ember Andres hit a solo home run for Clyde in the fourth inning.
