Lakeside's Easter 'eggstravaganza'

LAKESIDE-MARBLEHEAD — Lakeside Chautauqua recently publicized many free family-friendly Easter-related events open to the community. "New in 2025, gather friends and family for an Easter Eggstravaganza weekend in Lakeside, April 11-13," according to an event statement. "We're offering family-friendly programming with the Easter bunny, an egg hunt, Sunday brunch, a puzzle competition and much more. Plus, there are no admission or parking fees to enter Lakeside for this spring weekend. Please note that some activities require advanced registration." Here's a list of some notable events with statements provided by Lakeside Chautauqua: Friday, April 11 • Scavenger Hunt, all day at the Fountain Inn lobby, 225 Maple Ave. — "Explore the Lakeside grounds by participating in a self-directed Easter scavenger hunt. Pick up a list of clues from the scavenger hunt table in the Fountain Inn lobby. Once you've checked off all items, return your completed sheet to the Scavenger Hunt table for a prize." • Storybook Trail, all day at Cherry Park — "The Storybook Trail welcomes children and families to read, learn and enjoy the outdoors. The featured book for April is 'Ten Little Squirrels' by Bill Martin, Jr. and Michael Samson. To bring the book to life, 20 reading stations are spread across Cherry Park, each containing a page from the children's book. The path weaves clockwise for a whimsical adventure." • Easter Fun Trivia Night — 5-6:15 p.m. at the Fountain Inn — "Gather friends and family to rack your brain with fun facts about Easter. Compete for prizes and bragging rights." • Family Game Night — 6:30-10 p.m. at the Fountain Inn — "Visit the Aigler Room, located in the Fountain Inn, for an evening of family fun and friendly competition. From checkers and puzzles to various board games, enjoy playing a game or two with new and old friends." These spring flowers signal the end of winter and the arrival of a new growing season. But these pops of early garden color are gone almost as quickly as they arrive to make way for summer blooms. Join Lakeside's director of horticulture, Kyle Bueter, as he explores the life cycle of spring ephemerals, when and where to find them and tips for growing them in your own garden." • Legacy House open house and kids' activities, 9-10:30 a.m. at the Legacy House, 217 Walnut Ave. — "Stop by the Legacy House and visit with Lakeside friends, neighbors and staff for fellowship and kids' activities. Coffee, lemonade and sweet treats will be served for the meet and mingle." • Easter arts and crafts, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Fountain Inn — "Families can drop in and participate in a variety of fun Easter–themed activities and simple crafts. Children under age 7 must be accompanied by an adult." • Easter Egg Hunt, 2-3 p.m. in Bettinger Park — "Hop on over for a fun-filled Easter egg hunt the whole family will enjoy. Two age groups, (children ages 7 and under along with kids 8 and older) are invited to search for colorful eggs throughout the Bettinger Park basketball courts and discover sweet treats, special prizes and endless excitement. Bring a basket, your best hunting skills and get ready for a day of festive fun." In the case of inclement weather, the egg hunt will occur in Hoover Auditorium. • Storytime with The Fine Print at Millie Magoo's, 3-4 p.m. at the Pavilion Upper Room — "After the exciting egg hunt, make your way to the Pavilion Upper Room for an Easter-themed storytime. The story will be read aloud by friends from The Fine Print at Millie Magoo's, one of Lakeside's newest stores on Walnut Plaza." • Family Game Night & Movie, 6:30-10 p.m. at the Fountain Inn — "Visit the Aigler Room, located in the Fountain Inn, for family fun, friendly competition and an adventure movie. From checkers and puzzles to a variety of board games, enjoy playing a game while watching a family film at 7:30 p.m. Coloring pages and activity sheets will also be available for kids."
