HURON — The Huron Public Library planned a fun-filled April for patrons. Some events do require registration. People can visit huronlibrary.libcal.com/calendar/programs for more information: • Poem-a-Day, all month long — April is National Poetry Month. Each day of the month of April, we'll have our poem-a-day in which patrons can pick up a different free poem. • Poetry Month Book Bundles, all month long and as supplies last — Celebrate National Poetry Month by picking up a poetry book bundle featuring a poetry book, free goodies and more that celebrate this written art form. The book bundles are on a first-come, first-served basis and as supplies last in the adult services department upstairs. • National Library Week, April 6-12 — National Library Week, April 6-12, is a celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. The first National Library Week was observed in 1958 with the theme of "wake up and read." The 2025 celebration marks the 67th anniversary of the first event. The theme for 2025 is "drawn to the library." • Adulting 101, 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 2 — In this quarterly series, teens and young adults can visit the library and learn skills that are vital for thriving as an adult. Bring a copy of your current resume for additional assistance on updating your potential for hire. • The Tale of Three Writers: Millie, Virginia and Christine, 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 — Mildred "Millie" Wirt Benson was the original ghostwriter of the Nancy Drew series. Virginia Hamilton was the most honored author of children's literature, ever. Christine Brennan is the USA Today sports columnist, television commentator, author, and speaker.
