PREP ROUNDUP: Danbury edges Port Clinton

DANBURY TWP. — Danbury broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and defeated Port Clinton 5-3 in a SBC softball crossover game Tuesday. Moriah Hatfield doubled to lead off the bottom of the sixth and scored what proved to be the winning run on Ella McDonald's single. Hatfield and McDonald each went 2 for 3 and scored two runs apiece for the Lakers. Hatfield got the pitching victory, striking out seven. Danbury scored three runs in the first inning. Reese Redfern tripled and scored on a fielder's choice. Hatfield scored on an error before McDonald tripled and scored on an error. Four of Danbury's six hits went for extra bases. Ashton Sanchez was 3 for 4 for Port Clinton and struck out nine batters. Alania Seiser had two hits and drove in a run for the Redskins (0-2). PC hosts Bellevue on Thursday. Ella Frombaugh got the pitching win for Upper. Taitum Jeffrey worked five innings and took the loss. Addy Johnson had two singles and a double for Upper. Monroeville 17, Wellington 1 MONROEVILLE — Monroeville had 12 hits in a 17-1 five-inning win against Wellington. Madison Reiber went 2 for 4 with a home run and scored two runs and drove in a pair. Taylor Scheid was 2 for 3 with three RBI and two runs. Veanna Helmstetter threw a one-hitter and struck out nine. She went 2 for 3 at the plate.
