ALL-OHIO: Norwalk's Koenig makes first team in Division III

COLUMBUS — One last top postseason honor has been awarded to Norwalk senior point guard Abby Koenig. Koenig was voted to the All-Ohio first team in Division III by 11 members from the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association, it was announced Tuesday. She joins Jiselle Thomas (2017) as the only two All-Ohio first team selections in program history. Sandusky senior guard Mae Rameau made the D-III honorable mention list. Rameau averaged 17.1 points, 4.7 steals, 3.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game. Rameau helped the Blue Streaks win a tournament game and scored 27 points in Sandusky's 63-54 second-round loss to Norwalk. Koenig earned three Player of the Year awards this season. She earned the honor in the SBC Lake Division, OHSBCA District 6 and the OPSMA Northwest District. She was All-Ohio special mention in each of the past two seasons. Koenig averaged 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.5 assists in 24 games this season for the Truckers. She also shot 79 percent from the free-throw line. Koenig is also one of three players in program history to break 1,000 career points (1,061) along with Thomas and 2006 grad Megan Sellers. Also for Norwalk, sophomore Emmie Leber made the special mention list. She was the team's leading scorer at 15.2 points per game, and she also averaged 7.6 rebounds per game. The Truckers finished 22-3 overall and 9-1 in the SBC Lake Division. They shared the league title with Bellevue, marking the first league championship in program history. Norwalk's 20 wins in the regular season are also a program record, while the 22 overall wins are good for second-most. The Truckers also reached a district title game for a fourth time.
