ALL-OHIO: Bellevue's Rees named to Division IV first team

Bellevue senior Hailey Rees was named to the Division IV All-Ohio girls basketball first team Monday. Rees, who helped the Lady Red win the program's first-ever state championship earlier this month, finished her high school career with 1,601 points — fifth on Bellevue's all-time scoring list. Rees, a 5-foot-9 point guard who will play collegiately at Indiana Tech, averaged 15.6 points per game this season as the Lady Red finished 28-1. She also averaged 5 rebounds and 3.2 steals. Rees scored 16 points in the state semifinals and 16 in the 40-29 state final victory over Kettering Alter. Bellevue junior Kaitlyn Turinsky, who last week committed to play for Youngstown State, and Perkins' Camryn VanVlerah were named to the third team in Division IV. Turinsky averaged a double-double this season — 12.1 points and 10.1 rebounds. She was a force defensively, averaging 4.1 blocks per game. VanVlerah, who surpassed 1,000 career points this season, led the SBC Lake Division with 19.5 points per game. The 5-7 senior also averaged 7 rebounds and 3 steals per game. Vermilion's Claire Bartlome was an honorable mention selection. In Division V, Huron's Jessica Brown made the honorable mention list. Three area players — Margaretta's Cassidy Lane and Raegan Heck and Monroeville's Grace Stieber — were named Special Mention in Division VI. Danbury, which advanced to a regional final for the first time in school history, placed two seniors on the Division VII team. Maci Brown was a Special Mention pick and Mia McDonald made the honorable mention list. The 2025 Divisions IV, V, VI and VII All-Ohio teams were announced by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association. The All-Ohio teams are based on nominations from the seven districts of the OPSMA, which vote on the all-district teams from regular-season accomplishments. On Tuesday, the Divisions I, II and III girls basketball All-Ohio teams will be announced, followed by the boys basketball All-Ohio teams on Wednesday and Thursday.
