Attend NASA Armstrong annual meeting

MILAN TWP. — The NASA Armstrong Advocacy Coalition will host its annual meeting for its members from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at EHOVE Career Center, 316 W. Mason Road, Milan. The coalition is made up of community members "passionate about ensuring the long-term viability of the Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility" located in Erie County, according to an organizational statement. To do this, the coalition has four core functions: advocacy, education, marketing and coalition-building. Those interested in getting involved are welcome to register for the annual meeting, which will also cover their membership fee for the year. People, whether members or not, can attend. "Our goal is to update people on events and activities involving NASA (Armstrong) station in north-central Ohio," according to an organizational statement. "This NASA test station is a national treasure for testing spacecraft and launch vehicles." What attendees can expect The annual meeting will be an exciting event with an outstanding guest speaker, Col. Joseph E. Zeis. Zeis serves as the senior adviser for aerospace and defense, a cabinet-level position, for Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine. He's retired from the U.S. Air Force with more than 26 years of service. The coalition is also finalizing additional speakers. Attendees will be treated to light food and drinks. The coalition "is excited to be hosting (its) annual meeting with such a well-accomplished and extremely knowledgeable guest speaker and its supportive members," the statement read. "At the event, (the coalition) will provide updates on their activity and progress, inform about (station activities), raise awareness of aeronautics, aerospace, defense industry locally and encourage new membership and support of" the coalition" and Armstrong station-related activities.
