Teacher indicted on child sex charges

MONROEVILLE — A Monroeville school teacher accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a child was recently indicted on multiple sex charges. Holly A. Bauer, 42, of the 4100 block of N. Peru Center Road, a social studies teacher with Monroeville Schools, was indicted Friday by a Huron County grand jury on the following charges: • Five counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, each a third-degree felony • Four counts of sexual battery, each a third-degree felony • Three counts of rape, each a first-degree felony • Two counts of failure to comply with underage alcohol laws, each a first-degree misdemeanor • One count of burglary, a second-degree felony • One count of trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present Bauer was arrested by the Huron County Sheriff's Office and booked into jail on March 7 on a single count of rape, a first-degree felony. Bauer was previously placed on paid administrative leave due to the district investigating her for unprofessional conduct. According to Bauer's indictment, the alleged crimes took place between January 2022 and September 2023, where Bauer allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with someone less than 13 years of age by force or threat of force. As of Monday afternoon, Bauer does not appear as a current inmate at the Huron County Jail. Court records do not specify if she was given a bond. She has an arraignment scheduled for 1 p.m. on April 1.
