NORWALK • Three of Norwalk High School's robotics teams will compete at the state level. — Team 3264E: Declan Hanna, Addisyn Lewis, Harrison Whitman, Menphis Mobberly and Cooper King — Team 3264T: Alice Myers, Andrew Hammer, Leeland Ramsey, Anna Whaley and Kayli Blystone — Team 3264X: Sammi Chappell, Hudson Barnes, Zade Oglesby, Isaac White and Kaiden Moskus • Fourth-grade students in Jessica Montague's class learned about government with Mayor David Light. They received knowledge about how to create laws for bettering one's community. They then wrote letters to Light on what changes they'd like to see and met with him about how to make a difference. SANDUSKY CENTRAL CATHOLIC SCHOOL • Sandusky Central Catholic School thanked Tony Legando — a teacher, author and inspirational speaker who regularly writes columns for the Register — for visiting its fourth-grade students. The school also thanked Sandusky Elks Club for helping gift Legando's books to the fourth-grade students. • Steve Kohler taught his students a local history lesson about one of his family members. His students learned about Freda Smith, Kohler's great aunt and "Gibsonburg legend." As they learned about Smith, the students snacked on her 1957 creation, peanut butter blossoms. Eighth-grade student Molly Criscione made the cookies. NORWALK CATHOLIC SCHOOL • St. Paul sent 12 of its students to participate in the Cleveland Council on World Affairs Spring Model United Nations Conference at Case Western Reserve University. St. Paul was one of 30 schools to participate. Students were assigned a county and two topics of concern. They had to come up with solutions while practicing research methods, public speaking and debate skills. Participants this year included Charlotte Hosack, Lucy Dolce, River Couch, Rocco Rizzo, Chloe Hazelwood, Kailey Clark, Jacob Penwell, Henry Palau, Clover Ruffing, Chai Ruffing, Tristan Schlachter and Wyatt Houser PORT CLINTON • Port Clinton High School Educators Rising students and adviser Joe Miller met Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine at the Governor's Mansion. BENTON-CARROLL-SALEM • Oak Harbor High School's graphic design class created logos and products. In a "Shark Tank" style, students presented their products and logos. EDISON • The Edison Team Leadership Corps volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Toledo. The students donated and prepared lunch for families and helped clean. They also delivered almost 400,000 pop tabs.
