Expect much from the Home Expo

HURON TWP. — Looking to remodel? Looking to build? No matter what your home aspirations are, you'll find a bevy of highly qualified experts to help you at this week's 2025 Home Design & Remodeling Expo. Returning for another year, the expo will bring 55 local vendors to a three-day event at Sawmill Creek by Cedar Point Resorts, 400 Sawmill Creek Drive W., Huron. The show runs from this Friday through Sunday. Admission is free. Here's a glance at some of the special events lined up over the three-day show: Meet the K9s Between noon and 4 p.m. Saturday, expo attendees can see local police K9s in action. Dogs and their police handlers from Sandusky police, Huron police, Perkins police and the Erie County Sheriff's Office will be on hand for demonstrations. Donate blood Those who are able and willing are invited to donate blood at an American Red Cross event at the expo. Happening from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, staff from the Red Cross will be on hand to take blood drawings. The drive will take place at the Wildflower Rooms at the resort. "Give in March for a $10 gift card by email and successful donations get A1C testing," a flyer for the event states. Those interested in donating should schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter the sponsor code "Sawmill." Live from the expo Local newspaper and radio staff will be hosting live broadcasts from the event. On Friday, Sandusky Register executive editor Matt Westerhold will host a live-streamed walkthrough of the expo floor. Viewers will be able to get a preview of the show and hear from some of the vendors. People can find the live stream on the Register's YouTube channel. And on Saturday, 102.7 WCPZ is hosting a live remote broadcast from the expo floor from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring the kids Children attending the expo can become little builders themselves. From 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Lowe's will have a workshop at the expo, which can be found at the back of the exhibitors' space near the Habitat for Humanity She Shed. The first 50 children to arrive will get a free building kit courtesy of Lowe's.
