New Cedar Point disability pass process revealed

SANDUSKY — Guests visiting Cedar Point, or any Six Flags park, in 2025 will face a new process for obtaining a disability pass. The old process The old legacy Cedar Fair parks used to allow guests to visit guest services, explain their disability and then receive a piece of paper that they would carry to each attraction for accommodations. This would allow the guests and their family members to not physically stand in line. Instead, they would present their disability pass to the ride host — and, based on a ride's wait time, they would be given a time to return to the attraction at the exit area. Before the Cedar Fair/Six Flags merger in 2024, Six Flags parks and other parks, like Universal Studios, required guests to verify their disability through a third-party facilitator prior to obtaining accommodations. The new process Now legacy Cedar Fair properties, like Cedar Point and Kings Island, have been implemented into the program. To obtain disability access, guests need to register at the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards' website, www.accessibilitycard.org. After registering on the website, a doctor's note must be submitted, explaining the requested accommodations. The old method at guest services did not require a doctor's approval for accommodations. Once submitted and reviewed on the website, the board will provide guests with a digital card they will show to guest services. This is when the disability access pass is granted. Disabilities are not always physical in appearance, and each individual may require unique special accommodations. The new process is meant to streamline and provide credentialed approval to avoid abuse of the system.
