Prosecutor: Pregnant woman killed

SANDUSKY — A Georgia man was recently indicted for murder and other charges relating to the killing of a woman who was pregnant. Toldrick M. Griffin, Jr., 19, is facing three counts of murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, obstructing official business and grand theft of a motor vehicle. One count of murder is for Griffin allegedly purposefully causing the victim's death. One count is for causing the death while committing an underlying felony, in this case, felonious assault. The third count of murder is for the unlawful termination of the victim's unborn child, according to Erie County prosecutor Kevin Baxter. What happened? Griffin, an active-duty U.S. Marine stationed in Flordia, was arrested Feb. 10 after state troopers discovered him in a disabled motor vehicle on Cleveland Road (U.S. 6), near Cedar Point Sports Center. He reportedly fled on foot but was quickly detained. The car Griffin was in was registered to a woman with an address in the 1100 block of Perry St. When troopers discovered the car owner's address, they called in Sandusky police to check on the residence. When police entered they reportedly found the woman dead within. Police have yet to release the woman's name due to victim's rights laws. With a search warrant, police removed evidence from this home. They then interviewed Griffin who allegedly made "admissions about what happened at the residence, including an argument with the female," according to Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver, noting the Erie County prosecutor's office agreed with a murder charge. Griffin was taken to Erie County Jail and incarcerated under a $1 million bond. As of late Wednesday, he is still in jail.
