What's new at Cedar Point in 2025?

SANDUSKY — Why would 1,200 guests go to Cedar Point this weekend when the park is closed with snow on the ground? Of course, it's for the annual Winter Chill Out event, an annual in-park event happening since 2011. This year's event raised $120,000 for A Kid Again charity organization. The nonprofit brings "hope, happiness and healing to children with life-threatening conditions and their families," according to an organizational statement. Park staff generously volunteer their time, and the catering department serves up a hearty meal to guests. Those guests tour around Cedar Point to see behind-the-scenes areas and learn about what is new in the coming year. Sizing up Siren's Curse While guests did get a distant view of the new Siren's Curse roller coaster being built and opening this summer, the most exciting news was guests got their first up-close look at the ride vehicles. The train looked spectacular with the onboard lighting and sound shown, though it was only for display purposes while final design is conducted. This ride is going to look amazing at night. Guests also learned some interesting facts about Siren's Curse: • It's a Fast Lane Plus ride • Riders must be 48 inches, or 4 feet, tall to ride • There is on-board lighting and sound on the ride vehicles • Lockers will be free at Siren's Curse • Metal detectors will be used. • There won't be seat belts. There will only be restraints. • There will be an early rider passholder event. What else is new? Here's a rundown of some more notable tidbits learned at Winter Chill Out: • Guests at the main gate will no longer see the 150th anniversary sign for the 2025 season. A new sign and photo op will be going at the entrance. • New LED wall screens will be featured throughout the park and will allow guests to interact. • Quaker Steak and Lube at Castaway Bay will be replaced with Famous Dave's from the marina. There are no plans yet for the marina restaurant. • The Happy Friar stand is being replaced with a new quick-service building, which will allow guests to walk inside to buy fresh-cut fries. Seating will remain outside. • Derby Dogs is promised to be open more often this year. • Last year at Cedar Point Shores, two slides were removed at the Cross Current tower. Two new slides will be installed for this year, including one with translucent panels. • This year, Millennium Force will be celebrating 25 years — and, over the next two years, it will be repainted. The columns will be white and the track blue. In addition, a new control system will be installed with new lift drive motor. • Top Thrill 2 is on track for opening on May 3. Lockers will also be free for 2025. Restraints will be the same. • No general manager has been named as a replacement to Carrie Boldman, who retired at the end of 2024. • Guests were also given a first look at some of the new 2025 entertainment lineup: — Class of '99 Yearbook at the Jack Aldrich Theatre — Lusty Lil's Western Roadshow at the Gossip Gulch Stage — Rock this Way at the Red Garter Saloon — Country Crossroads at the Palace Theatre — Rockabilly Show at the BackBeat Stage — Boardwalk Nights — Peanuts 75th Anniversary — Bands in Residence As we get through the long days of winter, the appeal of summer and the reopening of Cedar Point begins the yearly cycle of excitement to back into the parks.
