Man charged with murder

SANDUSKY — Local authorities on Monday charged a man with murder after Sandusky police officers found a woman dead inside a city home. Police arrested Toldrick M. Griffin, 19 — an active-duty U.S. Marine stationed out of Florida whose last known address is in Georgia — in connection to the suspicious death occurring within the 1100 block of Perry St. in Sandusky, according to Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver. Authorities booked Griffin into the Erie County Jail where, as of late Monday, he remains locked up on a no-bond order At about 6:30 a.m. Monday, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers found a broken-down vehicle on Cleveland Road (U.S. 6) in the Perkins Township-Huron Township area. Griffin allegedly fled from the vehicle on foot. He was located by troopers shortly thereafter. While interviewing with troopers at an area patrol post, they linked this vehicle to someone who lived in the 1100 block of Perry St. Troopers then contacted Sandusky police, who visited the property, entered this home and found the woman dead. At this time, authorities have not publicly identified the woman. With a search warrant, police removed evidence from this home. They then interviewed Griffin and made "admissions about what happened at the residence, including an argument with the female," said Oliver, noting the Erie County prosecutor's office agreed with a murder charge. As of now, Griffin only faces the lone murder charge. It's possible more could come as a result of an ongoing investigation.
