SANDUSKY — On Thursday, Cedar Point announced the first piece of the new Siren's Curse roller coaster track has been installed. Cedar Point announced it would be getting a new tilt coaster on Sept. 19. Manufactured by Vekoma Rides out of the Netherlands, the roller coaster will be touted as the longest and fastest tilt coaster in North America. Originally intended for the Mexico Six Flags park, corporate shifted the project up to Cedar Point following failed attempts to get approval south of the border. Siren's Curse will be located adjacent to Valravn and across from the Iron Dragon roller coaster. Here's a preview of what riders can expect: • The ride will take guests up 160 feet and after climbing to the top of the lift hill. • The trains will lock in place, and the entire track will rotate 90 degrees, holding riders vertical for a couple of seconds. • Then the track will lock in position and drop the train onto 2,966 feet of track at a top speed of 58 mph. • Guests will experience 13 airtime moments, two 360-degree, zero-gravity barrel rolls and a triple down element. • Planned theme elements throughout the ride layout include wrecked ships and an underground tunnel. • The trains also offer onboard LED lights and audio to encapsulate the guests into the experience. Siren's Curse is expected to open sometime this summer for guests at least 48 inches, or 4 feet, in height. When Cedar Point reopens on May 3, the primary focus will be on the reopening of Top Thrill 2, which remained shuttered for the majority of the 2024 season.
