Man sentenced on sex charges

PORT CLINTON — A Port Clinton man was sentenced after pleading guilty to a sex crime. Jeremy D. Noble, 35, of the 1000 block E. 3rd St., was convicted on one count of sexual battery, a third-degree felony, and one count of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, after previously pleading guilty to both charges at a hearing on Nov. 22. In exchange for his guilty plea, one first-degree felony count of rape was dismissed by the state. Ottawa County Common Pleas Court Judge Bruce Winters sentenced Noble to serve about six months in the Ottawa County Detention Facility. He will receive a credit for two days served for the misdemeanor. On the felony charge, Noble was sentenced to serve a further three years in state prison, according to court records. Under the terms of his sentencing, Noble is classified as a Tier 3 sex offender, which means that he must provide verification of his home and work addresses to the local sheriff every 90 days for life. Noble will also be placed on a mandatory term of five years post-release control, according to court records. Noble was indicted in August 2023 by an Ottawa County grand jury with the crimes having occurred on or about July 9, 2023. Noble engaged in sexual conduct with the victim by force or threat of force, court documents state.
