Ottawa County gets $700K

PORT CLINTON — A local government stands to receive a slice of $22.4 million in state grants recently made avaialble for housing purposes. The Ohio Department of Development released the funds to 27 communities across Ohio for two major purposes: • Improve housing access • Provide homeownership and rental assistance Those who qualify as low- to moderate-income families stand to benefit from these grants. "We want all Ohioans to have a safe and stable place to call home, and these grants support that mission by improving housing, supporting homeownership, and creating opportunities for a better future," Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said. Among the political subdivisions claiming a share: Ottawa County. "Ottawa County will receive a $700,000 grant to rehabilitate five owner-occupied homes, repair seven owner-occupied homes, repair one renter-occupied home, provide tenant-based rental assistance to assist 10 homes and include a fair housing component," according to the development department.
