Sex crimes send man to prison

MILAN — A Milan man was sentenced to prison for a sex crime recently. Andrew D. Feasel, 44, pleaded guilty in October to two second-degree felony counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material. In exchange for his plea, eight other counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material were dismissed. On Jan. 8, Erie County Common Pleas Court Judge Tygh Tone sentenced Feasel to two years to three years in prison. He was labeled as a Tier II sex offender. That means he will have to register his home and work addresses with the local sheriff every six months. Feasel received 18 days of credit for time spent in jail prior to sentencing. He was required to give a DNA sample and be fingerprinted for state databases. As a convicted felon, he will be disqualified from possessing a firearm. He could have faced up to 20 years in prison. The allegations An investigation was launched when Milan police received a call in October 2023 about possible inappropriate photographs of a child. Someone who had access to Feasel's phone reportedly found explicit photos on the device. When confronted, Feasel allegedly admitted that the photos came from a camera he had installed inside a bathroom. Milan police then got involved. Feasel said he placed the camera within a bathroom lamp in August 2022. In the report, Feasel told the officer he believed he had 10 videos that were between two minutes and seven minutes in length. Feasel reportedly surrendered the phone to the officer, provided the passcode and consented to a search. He also agreed to a search of the property where the recording device was located, the report states. The phone was sent to the Erie County Sheriff's Office to pull the images from it, according to Milan police Chief Bob Meister.
