PREP ROUNDUP: Sandusky boys win fifth straight game

CLYDE — The Sandusky boys basketball team raced out to an 11-point lead after one quarter and made it hold up in a 72-60 Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division win over Clyde on Thursday. The Blue Streaks (8-4, 5-0 SBC Lake) were led by Aa'Zoriyon Bonner, who scored 19 points. Jason Henlon and Amir Aaron each added 17 points for Sandusky, who made just 9 of 22 free throws. The Fliers (4-6, 1-4) got 14 points from Michael Scruggs and 10 points from Price Carter. Huron won the first meeting between the two, 51-42, in Huron on Dec. 21. Olivia Spencer and Thea Wybensinger each scored 17 points for the Redskins (10-5, 2-4 SBC Bay). Port Clinton struggled at the free throw line, making 8 of 20 free throws. Huron (5-8, 3-3) was led by Addie LaCivita, who scored 16 points. Jessica Brown added 13 points for the Tigers. The Blue Streaks (7-2, 4-1 SBC Lake) girls, Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division tournament champions, were led by Indiana Tech signee and senior captain Jady Voegle with medalist scores of 202-208 for a 410 series. Junior Makayla Popke added 189-152 for a 341 series. Andrea Emery lead Clyde with a 254 series. The Sandusky (9-0, 5-0) boys were led by junior Landen Ebeling with medalist scores of 256-278 for a 534 series. Damian Palmer added 216-203 for a 419 series.
