Who's heard those loud booms?

SANDUSKY — In recent days, some residents have heard loud booming noises originating from an unknown site somewhere in the Sandusky area. "I've heard about 20 to 30 large booms/explosions," according to one local resident reaching out to the Register. "It's too loud for fireworks. It's very random, too. One was so loud, it shook our house and knocked pictures off my wall." This particular resident lives in Sandusky by railroad tracks. "I'm getting a little worried about this," the resident said. On Thursday, the Register sent this email to three local leading law enforcement officials with none having any documented reports on this: • Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth: I'm not aware of anything that was reported in our areas outside the city. Dispatch would have referred any complaints that they would have received in the city to Sandusky police. • Perkins police Chief Jeff Musser: I'm not aware of anything, and, to my knowledge, we have not taken any reports. • Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver: We had a call (just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday) in the 1200 block of Tyler St. The caller reported hearing a loud boom that shook her house and saw flashes of light. Officers responded but did not locate anything.
