Terion Stewart will play his final year of college football at Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Terion Stewart is leaving Bowling Green State University for Virginia Tech. The 2020 Sandusky graduate announced Friday on social media that he will play his final college football season for the Hokies, who compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Stewart, a first-team All-MAC selection this year, entered the transfer portal on December 4. He announced his pick of Virginia Tech by posting: "This is home!!!" Stewart, 23, had posted offers in recent weeks from USC, Texas Tech, Arkansas, TCU, Kentucky, Houston, Memphis and South Florida. He has one year of eligibility remaining. Stewart, who was one of Ohio's all-time leading rushers while playing at Sandusky, ran for 890 yards and six touchdowns this season for BGSU. He missed two games early in the season with an injury. In four seasons with the Falcons he totaled 2,359 yards and 23 touchdowns. Stewart averaged 6 yards per carry on 392 carry attempts, a record at BGSU. Virginia Tech has a need at running back. Leading rusher Bhayshul Tuten played two seasons in Blacksburg and is expected to head to the NFL. Another running back, Malachi Thomas, entered the transfer portal. The Hokies went 6-6 this season and will play Minnesota in the Duke's Mayo Bowl on January 3 in Charlotte, N.C.
