Vermilion woman dies in crash

BERLIN TWP. — The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Sandusky post is investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. 6 and Ohio 61 in Berlin Township. A report outlines what allegedly occurred: • A Vermilion woman, 33, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban heading westbound on U.S. 6. • As the woman prepared to turn left onto Ohio 61, a Vermilion man, 70, driving a 2018 Dodge Journey, approached the intersection. • The woman "failed to yield while turning left, causing her vehicle to be struck by (the man's) vehicle." • As a result of the crash, the man's passenger — Alethea Green, 67, of Vermilion — suffered life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. • The man suffered incapacitating injuries and was taken to a local hospital. His condition wasn't publicized. • The woman driver also sustained injuries and was taken to a different local hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
