Father-son duo charged with sex crimes

NEW LONDON — A father and son duo are facing sex crime charges. Kevin S. Black, Sr., 47, of the third block of Shadyside Ave., New London is facing an indictment for importuning, a fifth-degree felony; gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony; and two misdemeanor counts of sexual imposition. The indictment alleges that Black Sr. solicited sex from a minor. Furthermore, the gross sexual imposition charge alleges he engaged in sexual contact with the same victim between April 28, 2016, and April 27, 2017, when the victim was less than 10 years old. Kevin S. Black, Jr., 28, of the third block of Shadyside Ave., New London, is facing an indictment for two counts of rape, which are first-degree felonies and eight counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. The indictment alleges that, in March, Black Jr. allegedly impaired a victim's ability to resist by administering an intoxicant and then engaged in sexual conduct. The alleged victim was a minor at the time. The other rape charge alleges that Black Jr. engaged in sexual contact with a minor when he had reasonable cause to know that their ability to resist was impaired because of mental or physical condition. The eight counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor state that from March through November 10, Black Jr. allegedly engaged in sexual contact with a minor victim and that he was more than 10 years older than the reported victim. Black Sr. was released on a $25,000 bond. He has a pretrial scheduled for 1 p.m. on Jan. 27 in Huron County Common Pleas Court. He was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or that person's family. As of late Monday, Black Jr. is still incarcerated at Huron County Jail under a $200,000 bond. He also has a pretrial scheduled for 1 p.m. on Jan. 27 in Huron County Common Pleas Court.
