Woman facing involuntary manslaughter indictment

PORT CLINTON — A Sandusky woman is facing a multi-count indictment after allegedly killing a man with drugs. Tara A. Hollis, 51, of the 200 block Reese St., is facing four charges: • Aggravated trafficking in drugs methamphetamine • Trafficking in fentanyl-related compound • Corrupting another with drugs • Involuntary manslaughter The indictment, filed with the Ottawa County Clerk of Courts on Dec. 4, alleges Hollis did "sell or offer to sell" methamphetamine in an amount "less than the bulk amount." The bulk amount for methamphetamine is, "an amount equal to or exceeding ten grams or twenty-five unit doses," according to the Ohio Revised Code section on drug offense definitions. The corrupting another with drugs charge, which is a second-degree felony, and the first-degree felony involuntary manslaughter charge allege that on July 9 through July 10, 2024, Hollis administered or furnished fentanyl to a person, and that person died as a result of using the drug. The victim's name is redacted from the indictment. If convicted of the top count of the indictment, Hollis could be sentenced to an indefinite term of between three and 11 years in prison. Hollis was arrested on Dec. 5 by Ottawa County sheriff's deputies. As of late Tuesday, she is incarcerated at Ottawa County Detention Facility under a no-bond order. She was scheduled for an arraignment at 2 p.m. on Monday in Judge Bruce Winters' court, according to clerk of courts records. No record of her plea has yet been recorded online.
