Police: Man had sex with girl

MILAN — A Norwalk man faces two counts of rape for allegedly having sex with a girl, who's reportedly a few years younger than him. An Erie County grand jury recently indicted Hunter G. Beverlin, 19, of the first block of Fox Run Cove, with those crimes, both first-degree felonies. The grand jury formalized this decision after receiving documents from Milan police, who conducted a monthslong investigation into this incident. Earlier this year, police determined Beverlin — at the time, 18 years old — engaged in sexual contact with the victim — at the time, under the age of 13 — on at least two separate occasions. A 68-page document revealed that the two would meet at various places throughout the village, including outside of Edison Elementary School, often very late at night. The investigation into Beverlin first began after police reportedly observed the girl walking late at night on two separate occasions to meet Beverlin in his car. An officer, in both instances, would intervene, driving the girl back to her home, the report read. Milan police later conducted an interview with the girl and her father. The girl allegedly admitted to police that she had snuck out of her house several times with a friend, meeting up with Beverlin, who would pick them up and drive them around, the report read. The girl further explained to officers that, on one specific occasion, she and Beverlin allegedly had unprotected sex before Beverlin dropped her off back home, the report states. Police concluded the pair engaged in sex on two instances, which prompted the two charges. As a result, Beverlin was arrested by the Erie County Sheriff's Office on Saturday, Nov. 9 on a warrant stemming from his grand jury indictment and booked into the Erie County Jail. Beverlin is at the Erie County Jail on a $40,000 bond. His next scheduled court hearing is at 10:15 a.m. on Dec. 17 in Erie County Common Pleas Court. On a related note, Milan police became aware that Beverlin was allegedly a suspect in a rape case that occurred in September 2023. But, in that instance, no charges were pursued, the report states.
