Dispatcher trooper of the year named

SANDUSKY — The Sandusky post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has announced its trooper and dispatcher of the year. Trooper Kyle G. Wood, 29, was named the post's trooper of the year. Fellow officers chose Wood based upon his "leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers and the public," according to a post media release. Wood is now in contention for district and state trooper of the year awards. They will be announced at a later date, the release states. Wood was part of the patrol's 161st academy class. He joined the patrol in October 2016. He earned his commission in March 2017. Originally from Wakeman, he graduated from Firelands High School. He is a veteran of the United States Navy Reserves. Kylie Shreve was named the post's dispatcher of the year. Officers and dispatchers chose Shreve, "based on technical job knowledge and ability, enthusiastic work attitude, teamwork, and prompt and courteous response to the public's request for information and assistance," the release states. Like Wood, Shreve is now eligible for district and state awards. Shreve joined the patrol in 2022. "She earned the 2022 Double Gold Team Award from the Ohio Gold Star Award Program," according to the release. Originally from Milan, she graduated from Edison High School and EHOVE Career Center. She has a Bachelor's Degree in criminalistics and forensic psychology from Tiffin University. She was a member of the class of 2021.
