Spot the elf, win prizes

SANDUSKY— Watch movies, learn local history and more at the Sandusky Library this coming month. The library, located at 114 W. Adams St., will host a variety of events this December. In addition to its daily calendar, the library will host an Elf on the Shelf event daily through Dec. 23. Attendees can search for the library's elf "Elsie" in the Children's Department for a chance to win a prize. All month, the library will host its "Bundle Up With Books" on the Beanstalk app. The all-ages reading event encourages attendees to log their readings to earn visual badges. Here are the highlights: • Dickens Holiday Revelry — From 2-3 p.m. on Dec. 7, the library will host a celebration of Charles Dickens, the author of "A Christmas Carol" and other holiday classics. • Beyond the Book — From 10-11 a.m. on Dec. 10, the library will host its book club for attendees with developmental disabilities. The group focuses on reading and conversation. • Lunch & Learn — From noon to 1 p.m. on Dec. 17, the library will host an educational event about the history of ice production in Sandusky Bay. • #BookTok Book Discussion — From 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Dec. 19, the library will host a group discussion of "The Song of Achilles" by Madeline Miller. • Book Discussion — From 6-7:30 p.m. on Dec. 30, the library will host a group discussion of "The Pearl" by John Steinbeck. • New Year's at Noon — From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, children's services will host a kid-friendly New Year's Eve celebration.
