Mixing it up at Merry-Go-Round Museum

SANDUSKY — Many people came out to the Greater Sandusky Partnership's member mixer event on Nov. 14 at the Merry-Go-Round Museum in Sandusky. "It was an exciting preview of the new Downtown Sandusky Cedar Point Historical Museum located at the Merry-Go-Round Museum," according to a partnership statement. People can find the museum at 301 Jackson St., Sandusky. "We were especially thrilled to welcome Dick Kinzel, who was the park's CEO from 1986 to 2012," the partnership added, which thanked various program sponsors: Shores & Islands Ohio, Vine & Olive, CLAG Brewing Co., Sandusky Wine Merchant and the museum. David Kaman, a Sandusky native who recently returned to the city, has collected thousands of Cedar Point memorabilia items. He'll be sharing some of them when the new historical museum opens on Dec. 4 in space inside the Merry-Go-Round Museum. He put together the exhibits with the help of Candy Frankowski, a longtime Cedar Point employee, who retired as a director of park operations. She's now vice president of the museum's board. The new museum is housed in the Parker Room of the Merry-Go-Round Museum in a space of about 1,000 square feet. It has 17 display cases Kaman bought for the museum, but additional items are mounted on the walls. "Congratulations to museum owner/curator, David Kaman," the statement read. "We wish you great success, and thank you for adding such a unique space to our community." The partnership invites members to attend its next mixer on Dec. 17 at Sawmill Creek Resort.
