Disney musical coming to Bellevue

BELLEVUE — Bellevue High School's Drama Club invites people to the streets of New York as it presents the stunning Disney musical, "Newsies: The Broadway Musical." Based on the Newsboys' Strike of 1899, "Newsies" follows the inspiring story of union leader Jack Kelley as he leads a ragtag band of Manhattan newsies in a strike against the newspaper tycoon, Joseph Pulitzer. As he navigates through the challenges of leadership and love, Jack must lead his gang through loss, fame and everything in between for a fair deal. "Newsies" is a fun, high-energy musical that the whole family can enjoy. This show will have you yelling strike and singing along to well-known songs like "Carrying the Banner", "Seize the Day" and many more from Oscar- and Grammy Award-winning composer Alan Mankan and Tony Award-winning lyricist Jack Feldman. With a cast of 36 talented high schoolers, "Newsies" is sure to leave you with a pep in your step and the determination to do anything you set your mind to. The show will be performed at Bellevue Elementary School, 1150 Ohio 269, Bellevue. Performances are: • 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 • 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students.
