Roshong clear choice for 89th

Our representative form of government depends on having candidates who value public service over power and ego, help our communities instead of themselves, and focus on the well-being of all their constituents instead of the few. Only one candidate for House District 89 deserves our vote: Alicia Roshong. Throughout her campaign, Alicia has met with residents for town hall events and in community gathering spots such as coffee shops, libraries and gun clubs. Alicia does not base her value of a voter's opinion on political affiliation, as proven by her unflinching habit of knocking on the doors of voters with yard signs for her opponent. Alicia believes that conversation, empathy and a willingness to listen — and learn — are more important than voting records, yard signs, or political tribalism. She will be available and listen to all constituents, whether in district or at the Statehouse. As a small business owner, Alicia balances her personal goals with enriching her employees' and customers' lives. She does not consider her fast-food employees as simply hourly employees to exploit, she teaches them how to establish and operate a small business, setting them up for future success. With her property business, Alicia provides affordable housing to families struggling to find a home. During COVID, she instituted a rent freeze (still in effect) for cash-paying residents to alleviate their fears of losing their home. When frigid winter weather or misfortune hits, Alicia steps in to help her residents keep the utilities on or stay in the place they call home. As an attorney, Alicia fights for people harmed by medical malpractice, accidents, civil rights violations, and more. Proving her values are central to everything she does, Alicia has also provided pro bono legal assistance to those experiencing tragic events. Alicia believes government must protect our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Our current legislature infringes on those rights by pushing laws that limit our freedom to make healthcare decisions for ourselves or our family, increase suicide rates in the LGBTQ+ community, deny equality and equity, and harm the environment. This legislature continues to undermine voting rights, gut public education, and prioritize profit over humanity. For Ohio to thrive, young people must be able to envision a future here for themselves and their children. Instead of encouraging them to stay, this legislature's misplaced priorities push young people out. We deserve elected officials who believe in public service and work to make life better for Ohioans. We deserve elected officials whose obligation is to their constituents, not big business, special interests, or forces working to destroy democracy. We deserve a representative like Alicia Roshong because she will work to build the future all Ohioans deserve. Vote for Alicia Roshong for the Ohio House of Representatives.
