A fun flag football outing

SANDUSKY — A local team competing in many different athletic competitions took up a new sport this fall. And players recently matched up against a squad made up of local law enforcement officers as a tune-up before a big contest this weekend. The Erie County Bucks, which take part in annual softball leagues as well as participate in the Special Olympics Ohio, came together to create a flag football team. This past week at Sports Force Parks at Cedar Point Sports Center in Sandusky, the Bucks played against a lineup made up of Perkins police officers. Perkins High School's cheerleaders also showed up to support both groups. The Bucks took down Perkins police, 32-25. This weekend, the Bucks will compete in a regional tournament in Napoleon, Ohio. Going forward, the Bucks want to play against Perkins police on an annual basis, possibly turning this match-up into a fundraising event. Among those on the Bucks flag football team: Andrew Brown, Jeremy Champion, Jeb McFarlin, Kali Ohlemacher, Carter Ebinger, Zach Kibler, Philip Rohrbacher, Jake Henrichsen, Max Parell and Bob Kaman. Among those coaching the Bucks team: Dave Baumgartner and Danny Huff.
