Port Clinton to induct 4 in athletic hall of fame

Port Clinton High School will recognize its Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024 during Friday's home football game. The induction ceremony will be held on Saturday at the Catawba Island Club starting with refreshments at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6. A look at the inductees:Carey Clum — Clum worked for 21 years as Port Clinton's athletic director, retiring in 2013. Clum was inducted into the OIAAA (Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association) in 2015. During his tenure, PCHS added five varsity sports and was instrumental in creating the PCHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996. Mike Reynolds (1993 graduate) — Reynolds earned four varsity letters in wrestling. He finished with a record of 105–37. He was a three-time state qualifier and was a two-time All-Ohio wrestler. He placed fourth in his weight class in Division II as a junior and third as a senior. Reynolds also was a two-time SBC champion, sectional champion and district champion. Scott Thomas (1990) — Thomas earned nine varsity letters — two in basketball, three in track & field and four in cross country. He was a two-time state qualifier and earned All-Ohio honors his junior year, finishing sixth in the 1600 meters in Division II. Thomas was a first-team All-SBC performer in cross country as a senior and was captain of the basketball team as a senior, averaging 14.9 points per game while helping lead the Redskins to a 1990 SBC championship and Division II sectional title. Paula Wargo Connors (2006) — Wargo Connors earned six varsity letters, four in basketball and two in softball. Upon graduation, she was the third-leading scorer in PC girls basketball history with 1,270 points. She earned All-Ohio honors as a junior and was a first-team district pick as a junior and senior. Wargo Connors was a first-team All-SBC selection as a junior and senior.
