Lately leads Blue Streaks' 41-13 rout of Columbian

TIFFIN — Sandusky started and finished the game at Tiffin Columbian with a flourish Friday night. On the opening kickoff, Sandusky's Dante Shipp Jr. caught the kick and lateraled to Amir Aaron for a 70-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. But the Tornadoes came back with 13 straight points to lead 13-7 at the end of the first quarter. However, that was the last time TC scored as Sandusky scored 34 straight points to grab a dominant 41-13 SBC Lake win. "It's just a credit to the boys and how they responded tonight," Blue Streaks coach Jamaris Brown said. "The coaches made some adjustments … I mean they had a great game plan and came right out and punched us in the mouth. "With the line they have, that's what I expected. But credit to our guys for fighting back and persevering. It's a great group of kids that want to play together and want to be successful. When they fully figure it out, they could be really scary. I don't think they've fully figured it out yet, but we're getting there." After TC (2-4, 0-1 SBC Lake) led 13-7, Sandusky's Makyveon Lately went to work. Lately ran in a 3-yard TD, but the extra point was missed. With seven seconds left in the first half, Sandusky (3-3, 1-0) quarterback Jason Henlon scrambled into the end zone for an 11-yard score. From there, it was all Blue Streaks. Lately ran in an 8-yard TD, a 9-yard TD and then after TC fumbled a kickoff return, Lately capped his fourth touchdown night with a 5-yard score. "Those five guys up front for us, we rely on them heavy. Two of them play both ways all game long, so it was nice to see them be hungry and continue to fight through the fatigue they have every game," Brown said. "Like I said, this is just the start of it. We haven't reached our potential yet, we're getting there. We gotta still be hungry." Lately finished with 15 carries for 79 yards and added 73 yards receiving, while Aaron had five catches for 93 yards. Henlon finishes 14-of-19 passing for 219 yards.Masen Seitz led TC with 13 carries for 51 yards and Zach Shawberry was just 8 of 15 passing for 62 yards.
