Man charged with felony sex crimes

NORWALK — A Norwalk man is facing multiple felony charges for sex crimes against a minor. On Sept. 17, Eric M. Frye, 39, of the sixth block of E. Elm St., was arrested and booked into the Huron County Jail following a Sept. 13 indictment from a Huron County grand jury on the following charges: • Three counts of gross sexual imposition, each a third-degree felony According to Frye's indictment, the alleged crimes occurred in Huron County between December 2023 through February 2024. Frye allegedly engaged in sexual contact with someone "less than 13 years of age." In addition to those charges in his indictment, the grand jury also found that Frye was a repeat violent offender. In November 2015, Frye was found guilty in Florida by Eighth Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Mark W. Moseley for one count of traveling to meet a minor for unlawful sexual activity, a second-degree felony. In that case, Frye was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender. A Huron County grand jury indicted Frye in April of this year on two counts of failure to register, each a second-degree felony. Norwalk police chief Scott Dahlgren said the investigation into Frye first began after the Norwalk police department received an anonymous tip in early 2024. "The charges were all warrants stemming from an ongoing investigation into him," Dahlgren said. As of Friday afternoon, Frye is currently being held at the Huron County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Frye has a pretrial date scheduled for 1 p.m. on Oct. 1.
