Hunger-relief organization brings on board members

Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio recently welcomed new board members and roles for the upcoming year. The nonprofit serves various counties, including Erie and Huron, distributing more than 12 million pounds of food annually. The new board members include Chris Patterson, Dave Sokol, Ian Whinnem and Chris Wolf. A little bit more on each: • Patterson is the senior director of sales and business development at Nutrition for Longevity. He has experience in connecting people to healthy food. • Sokol is the executive director of the Oberlin Food Hub. He has extensive experience working with local agricultural partners and increasing food access for the community. • Whinnem is the chief financial officer of Civista Bank and a frequent volunteer at food banks in the area. • Wolf is retired from Progressive Insurance after 32 years of service. He has been a Second Harvest volunteer for three years. In addition to new volunteers, board roles have changed: • Lisa Brown is the new board chair. She has served on the Second Harvest board since 2020. Brown is the executive director of the Lorain County Community College Foundation. • Manoj Kumar is the new vice board chair. Manoj has served on the board since 2022. He is the vice president of strategy, global supply chain at Sherwin-Williams. "Our board is instrumental to our mission," said Julie Chase-Morefield, Second Harvest's president and CEO. "I'm excited for what we are going to accomplish together."
