Campaign supports Safe Harbour

PERKINS TWP. — A teeth whitening campaign resulted in $8,800 being donated to the area's leading organization in supporting victims of domestic violence. The Smiles for Charity campaign occurred at Stefano Dental earlier this year and involved people paying to get their teeth whitened. From this procedure, 100% of the proceeds generated went to Safe Harbour Domestic Violence Shelter. Those representing both organizations recently came together for a check presentation. Safe Harbour represents the area's only certified facility to directly protect, advocate for and empower victims, a majority being women. It offers safety, encouragement and support. Safe Harbour also provides shelter, counseling, advocacy, support groups and community awareness education. Throughout the years, Stefano Dental has donated thousands of dollars to many local charities with a teeth whitening program. "Giving back to the community has always been a part of my business model: give when you can," said Dr. Lata Stefano, who's the owner of Stefano Dental. Stefano then explained why this year's initiative benefited Safe Harbour. "Safe Harbour provides families in need with a safe place," she said. "Safety is something that most of us take for granted, and we should all be able to feel safe. We are happy to support Safe Harbour's mission and are inspired by what they do for our community, and we hope to encourage others to do the same." Hazel Foley, Safe Harbour's executive director, thanked Stefano for the company's commitment in supporting the nonprofit. Do you need help?
