Sir Munchies Pizza delivers big tastes

SANDUSKY — Two entrepreneurs believe they can take several slices of information they've previously learned in life to make their newest business venture a success. Spouses Allan Trevino and Taylor Sherwood recently debuted Sir Munchies Pizza, at 1109 Warren St. (U.S. 6), in Sandusky not far from Huron Park and CVS Pharmacy. Trevino and Sherwood rebranded the business, previously known as Sandtown Munchies. Both have vast experience working in various sectors, especially the food and beverage industry. Trevino has worked on Kelleys Island, while Sherwood most recently served as a regional supervisor for McDonald's. "I have a really good understanding of how to manage a business and make it profitable while also providing good customer service," Sherwood said. "I also know how to work with a team and make sure they are all trained to provide consistency as well as quality." The Sandusky residents expressed great excitement about owning and operating a restaurant for the first time. "We're a small-town pizza shop, and we believe the quality of our food should be our representation," said Trevino, noting the "Sir" portion of their business name pays homage to their dog, Sir. Munchies specializes in pizza, including pies heavily featuring pickles, chicken and ranch. It also serves salads, subs, wings and more. For right now, Munchies opens at 4 p.m. daily It will remain open late each day, at least through 11 p.m., except on Sundays, closing a bit earlier. Trevino noted not many places stay open late at night on a regular basis, and he wants to accommodate those customers. They both welcome people to come in and give their food a try. "We really want to have that 'homey' feeling when you come in here," said Trevino, adding how Munchies is working to acquire a liquor license while also adding arcade games and outdoor dining space. "We are all family here, and we will treat you like our family," Trevino said. "How we treat one another here, we work well together, and that will show in the quality of our food."
