Property values to increase

SANDUSKY — Throughout Erie County, heading into 2025 and beyond, people can expect to see their property values increase by an average of 21%. "That means some (will be) higher, and some (will be) lower," county auditor Rick Jeffrey said. But what does this mean for how much people pay in property taxes? "At this point, we do not know the impact on tax rates," Jeffrey said. "Typically, the tax increase percentage is lower than the percentage increase in property value. We will not have a firm number on the new tax rates until mid-December." Jeffrey and his staff continue to work with state officials "to limit the increase or effect on our taxpayers," Jeffrey said.
