Off-site CP facility opening

SANDUSKY — Cedar Point will open its new off-site human resources facility at 2206 Cleveland Road (U.S. 6) in Sandusky sometime next week, according to a statement from the amusement park. The new building will host both hiring and training operations for the amusement park. Previously this was handled within Cedar Point's premises: in a building located at the marina parking lot. Cedar Point acquired the 3-acre property in late 2023 from the Firelands Auto Group for $1.5 million after the car dealership consolidated its locations. When asked about future plans for the existing human resources building in the marina, a spokesman noted, "There are no plans for changes to the building in the marina, although it will not house (human resources) functions going forward." What could be next? After human resources staff have been relocated to the off-site Cleveland Road property, this now provides an interesting opportunity for the area should Cedar Point decide to remove the old building. Back in 2019, the Register broke the news that the former Cedars dorms were being demolished, which has left the area undeveloped for a number of years. Should the former human resources building get demolished, this opens up additional room for redevelopment. While we can all start daydreaming about Cedar Point's next big power play, perhaps the most likely option involves pushing the perimeter road out closer to the marina, giving a nice piece of property that could then be brought into the park boundaries. At that point, then we might start to see the developable land for future attractions. The key factor impacting the redevelopment of this area would be accommodating the parking requirements for the marina needs.
