MIDWEST LIVE: Lady Red, Bears, Truckers all 2-0 on Day 2

PERKINS TWP. — Bellevue and Norwalk each capped spotless two-day stretches at Midwest Live with a pair of additional victories, and Margaretta bounced back in a big way on day two of the recruiting showcase. The Lady Red handled matchups with Gibsonburg and Harvest Prep on Saturday morning at Cedar Point Sports Center. They routed the Golden Bears, which feature rising sophomore star Elly Evarts, 46-12. Then they beat Harvest Prep, a team that met Margaretta each of the past two seasons, by a 45-37 score. Bellevue had already defeated Garfield Heights Trinity and Gilmour Academy on Friday at the event featuring some of the top teams in Ohio along with dozens of college coaches in attendance. On Saturday, Norwalk beat Massillon Perry, 41-28, and then knocked off Solon, 30-21. That followed Friday wins for the Truckers over Canfield and Olentangy Orange. Margaretta had lost twice on Friday but bounced back with two weekend wins. The Polar Bears, playing without multiple returning rotation pieces due to injury, nipped Lancaster, 25-24, before tripling up Cleveland John Marshall, 39-13. SBC Bay counterpart Willard followed Margaretta's lead, backing up two Friday defeats with two Saturday triumphs. The Flashes beat Twinsburg, 46-39, and then Avon, 34-31. The boys edition of Midwest Live is scheduled for three days on the last weekend of June, starting on Friday, June 28 and running through Sunday, June 30.
