CP director retires after 50 years in industry

SANDUSKY — Ken Berryhill, Cedar Point's director of safety, recently retired after a remarkable 50-year career in the amusement and theme park industry, which included 25 years dedicated to Cedar Point. Berryhill's journey in the industry began when he was 16 in an amusement park in Texas. There, he initially worked in general roles before transitioning to the security department due to his interest in law enforcement. In 1999, Berryhill joined Cedar Point, bringing his expertise and passion for safety to the renowned amusement park. Over the years, he has been responsible for the safety of more than 90 million guests, a testament to his commitment and vigilance. His extensive qualifications include certifications as a fall protection trainer and senior ride inspector as well as membership in the National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials. Berryhill's distinguished career has been recognized with the William J. Duffy Memorial Award for career achievements in safety. This prestigious award, presented by the Sandusky Area Safety Council, honors individuals who have demonstrated outstanding safety achievements and made significant contributions to saving lives. As Berryhill steps into retirement, both Cedar Point and the amusement park industry at large will feel the impact of his departure. His dedication and achievements in safety have left an indelible mark, ensuring the well-being of countless visitors over the decades.
