Erie County wins auditing award

SANDUSKY — Erie County's government recently earned an esteemed award for receiving and spending taxpayer dollars in a prudent, transparent manner. The government received the Auditor of the State Award with Distinction for a finance period in 2022 that was reviewed in 2023. Basically, "This award is presented for excellence in financial reporting," according to the certificate's text. Your exemplary reporting serves as the standard for clean, accountable government, representing the highest level of service to Ohioans." Only 3% of Ohio-based counties receive this award. Erie County auditor Rick Jeffrey accepted this award and credited his staff and other local government employees in various departments and officers for collectively achieving this feat. "My department, with the support of all the departments in the county, were partners in making this happen," Jeffrey said. "The entire county should be very proud."
