More concerts named for Party at the Pier

SANDUSKY — Those overseeing the Party at the Pier concert series announced two additional acts taking the stage this summer, performing for free. The Lange Trust of the Sandusky Library provided necessary sponsorships for these musicians to perform at Jackson Street Pier in Sandusky. The extended lineup, with all shows starting at 7 p.m. at the downtown Sandusky space, 233 W. Shoreline Drive, now consists of the following: • Thursday, June 13 — Rumours, a Fleetwood Mac tribute • Wednesday, June 19 — Forever Motown, performing many No. 1 hits from the genre; There will be fireworks following this show. • Thursday, June 27 – E5C4P3, a Journey tribute • Thursday, July 4 — DJ Chosen • Thursday, July 11 — The Ten Band, a Pearl Jam tribute • Thursday, July 18 – The Good, the Bad, and the Blues, drawing inspiration from Muddy Waters to Motown • Wednesday, July 24 — Drone Show & Take3; Take3 is a trio comprised of violin, cello and keyboard players, playing many different genres of music with flavors of a Trans-Siberian orchestra. Drones will then be shown at the end of this concert synched to Sandusky. • Thursday, Aug. 1 – 24K Magic, a Bruno Mars tribute • Thursday, Aug. 8 — Parrots of the Caribbean, a Jimmy Buffett tribute • Thursday, Aug. 15 — The Miss Americanas, a Taylor Swift tribute • Thursday, Aug. 22 – China Grove, a Doobie Brothers tribute Previously officials noted the concerts scheduled for Thursdays would start at 7:30 p.m. Peering into Party at the Pier For the fourth consecutive year, organizers brought back the highly successful Party at the Pier series. They largely feature tribute bands recognized nationwide, including those dedicated to Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Pearl Jam, Bruno Mars, Jimmy Buffett, Taylor Swift and The Doobie Brothers. Additionally, these artists run the gamut regarding genres. These performers specialize in rock, pop, R&B, soul, hip-hop, funk, country and others. During the offseason, organizers solicited feedback from community members about what they desired for Party at the Pier in 2024. They greatly incorporated the input into this year's lineup. For example, locals wanted Rumours and E5C4P3 to make return appearances and also yearned to hear jams from present-day chart-topping artists, namely Swift — the most popular entertainer worldwide. "People love Party at the Pier. It's a summertime staple," said McKenzie Spriggs, the director of Destination Sandusky, which oversees scheduling efforts. Added city manager John Orzech: "We are thrilled to be bringing back the Party at the Pier summer concert to America's Best Coastal Small Town this summer. This is a fun opportunity for our community to come together and enjoy some great music on our beautifully revitalized Sandusky waterfront." In 2022, the Ohio Chapter of the American Planning Association named Jackson Street Pier as one of the great places in Ohio. And in 2022 and 2023, through the Register's Readers Choice Awards, locals named Jackson Street Pier as a top live concert venue and event venue. "The pier is meant to be a place for all Sanduskians, and we've seen that, time and time again, how our residents embrace it and make it their own," according to a city statement. On a related note, and in a separate but similar series to Party at the Pier, the Lange Trust of the Sandusky Library will also bring back free concerts this summer at Jackson Street Pier. An announcement should occur in the near future.
