CP removes original water slide complex

SANDUSKY — Guests visiting Cedar Point over the past couple of weeks may have noticed something missing from the water park when peering in from the outside. Pieces of the Crosscurrent slide complex inside Cedar Point Shores have been removed. Currently, the pink and yellow slides have been removed, but the larger blue slide remains attached to the tower. The slides have reached the end of their service life, according to Cedar Point spokesman Tony Clark. As of the time of writing, the Crosscurrent waterslide complex is still listed on the Cedar Point website. Those two slides are the only attractions that will not open this year, according to Clark. Dorney Park, Cedar Point's sister park in Allentown, Pennsylvania, announced last week that its same slide complex — the Lightning Falls & Cascade slides — were also being removed for a replacement in 2025. Posts from the amusement park have since been removed. Coincidence? More than likely, this might have been a slip of the tongue that both parks could be seeing water park enhancements as the 2025 improvements. Cedar Point Shores opens for the 2024 season on Saturday. History lesson The Crosscurrent water slide complex consisted of three slides that were first built at Soak City in 1988. The slides were originally tan in color at Soak City and later repainted to their current yellow, pink and blue colors for 2012. The slide complex was renamed to Crosscurrent in 2017 when the park was rebranded as Cedar Point Shores.
