Suspect charged in CP hit-skip crash

SANDUSKY — A suspect has been charged following a Friday incident where a driver ran over a Cedar Point employee's legs. The suspect, identified as Riley J. Brock, 26, was arrested early in the afternoon at a residence in Southgate, Michigan, according to Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver. Brock is charged with a fourth-degree felony for allegedly leaving the scene of a crash. He is awaiting extradition to Sandusky for arraignment. Officers responded to the park's main parking lot at 8 p.m. following reports of a hit-skip crash involving a park traffic employee. Once on scene, the employee, later identified as Kyle Allen, advised officers that he had been run over by someone driving a Cadillac Escalade, according to a police report. A witness on scene told officers that the vehicle had left the area and that he heard someone yelling for the car to stop because they were running the employee over. The witness said that he saw the employee fall onto the ground and that the vehicle continued to run over both of the employee's legs and then kept driving, the police report states. Fundraiser started Family created an online fundraiser for Allen after Friday's incident. Allen's mother, Buffy Caldwell, said she started the fundraiser on GoFundMe to help cover costs while he recovers from his injuries. "Whatever is donated will be going towards his bills," Caldwell wrote on the fundraiser page. "But we are very grateful he is alive, and we wanna thank everyone who stayed with Kyle while help came, and to all the medical teams (and) all the witnesses who came forward." The fundraiser was created early Tuesday morning and set a goal of $15,000. As of Tuesday evening, they have raised a little over $400. Want to donate?
